Hi I’m Marina, Manager of Riverton Childcare. I am married to Dean. We have five tamariki and one mokopuna. I was initially a primary school teacher but re-trained in early childhood education, graduating in 2005. We opened Riverton Childcare in November 2003 and the Childcare has been a vital part of the community since then.
I also have a diploma in child protection and have a special interest in ensuring that all tamariki can access education in a way that meets their individual needs.
I love my job and enjoy getting to know the tamariki as they grow and their whānau and extended family.
I have a great team of teachers who all work well together to ensure that the tamariki at Riverton Childcare learn in a kind, caring and loving environment.
I am a member of Hope Centre, Riverton and on the National Board for FosteringKidsNZ.
I am originally from Cape Town, South Africa, but have loved calling New Zealand my home since 2009.
I am married with two gorgeous tamariki, who have helped shape me into the teacher I am. I am fully registered and have a graduate diploma in Early Childhood Education. I particularly enjoy working with the four- and five-year olds (Navigators) as I love their honesty and curiosity! I really love seeing their faces when they understand something new or when they accomplish a new task on their own for the first time. It’s a joy to know I’ve been a part of that learning process with them.
